Volva is a teacher, a seeress, a bridge between the earthly and heavenly. She’s accessed the other side since childhood, only learning later in life that, despite what those around her said, it was a gift rather than a curse. She is a healer who has been wounded but empowered. Her lineage connects her to the Szeptucha, or woman whisperers in Poland who use their healing powers for the benefit of their communities. Joanna’s purpose, like her ancestors, is also to serve.
